Battery Testing and Production
Tri-Mer scrubbers and dust collectors control gases, particulate, mixed acids, and VOCs from nickel-metal hydride, lead acid, and lithium-ion battery manufacturing processes.
In 1960, we installed our first Fan/Separator, a then-revolutionary, chemical-free technology for the control of fumes and mists from lead oxide charging stations. Since then, we’ve supplied scrubber and particulate control systems for test cells, paste mixing, recycling and other battery operations worldwide.
Whirl/Wet Dust Collector Replaces Baghouse
Surrette Battery Company / Rolls Battery (Springhill, Nova Scotia) is the leading manufacturer of deep cycle batteries for marine, motive power, railroad and renewable energy applications.
The company wanted a corrosion-free dust collector that would withstand fumes and collect process dusts.
A baghouse met environmental requirements, but the company’s management wanted a more reliable dust collector that had lower maintenance requirements, would accommodate future growth, and would create a cleaner IAQ environment. The answer was an all-polypropylene Whirl/Wet dust collector.
Whirl/Wet dust collector systems are widely used throughout the battery industry. These wet dust collector systems operate quietly, accommodate heavy particulate loadings and are self-cleaning. Whirl/Wet dust collectors are capable of continuous, zero-shutdown operation.
The Whirl/Wet dust collector collects dusts 1 micron and above at 99.5% efficiency. These dust collectors will not clog or blind in high-humidity conditions, and are unaffected by acid fumes. Water use is low, and water level is maintained automatically. Disposal of collected material is far less cumbersome and time-consuming than what’s required with baghouse operation.
Tri-Mer manufactures dust collection systems for every industrial and commercial application.
