Systems serve mixing and blending stations, as well as weighing and packaging operations. Whirl/Wet dust collectors capture 99% of particles 10.0 micron and larger, 98% for particles 5 microns and larger. They have been widely specified by food processors for decades.

Whirl/Wet systems used in food facilities are polypropylene or stainless steel. The system chosen most often is a Model MCD, which has the advantage of continuous duty; even routine maintenance does not halt production. It is one of 3 disposal options offered on the Whirl/Wet.

Whirl/Wet systems use very little water; the only make-up water required is what’s needed to compensate for evaporation. It is also self-cleaning, and will not allow fine particulate to form sludge on the exhaust vent interior. Process water is recycled. It is suitable for both soluble and insoluble dusts and powders. In addition, there are no maintenance parts to wear and replace, and no bags to deal with.

Ergonomically, the Whirl/Wet has no peer. Noise levels are typically 85-90 db or less at 5 ft. The choice of a Whirl Wet has, for some customers, eliminated the need for a monitoring program for long-term hearing loss. The Whirl/Wet also contributes to higher quality indoor air as well as lower “housekeeping” requirements.

Systems are tailored to the application and work environment. If equipment footprint is a concern, for example, a vertical configuration with top-mounted fan is a practical solution.
