Acids/Alkalis, Corrosive Gases
Tri-Mer manufactures several time-proven technologies for the efficient scrubbing of extreme pH fumes and gases, and corrosives of all types.
We are best known for our more than 6 decades of service to the food, pharma and chemical processing industries. Tri-Mer also designs and fabricates wet scrubbers for specialty applications such as lithium ion battery propagation testing (where inlet chemistry is both acidic and alkali, and is co-mingled with non-uniform PM) and the semiconductor industry, where again, both acids and alkalis are present.
Depending on the contaminant(s) and required efficiency, Tri-Mer Venturi scrubbers, packed towers, crossflow scrubbers and Ultrascrub systems each offer distinct advantages in terms of design flexibility, efficiency and total life cycle cost.
Tri-Mer specializes in wet scrubbers that involve high inlet loadings and exceptionally high removal efficiency. Functional process designs provide on-demand automated chemical dosing for both continuous and batch format equipment.
For the many applications involving both acids and alkalis, gas streams are routed to a single scrubber following treatment in separate, sequential columns, minimizing both footprint and cost. Regardless of load characteristics or load consistency, Tri-Mer guarantees <1ppmv at the outlet.
The construction materials most frequently specified for the wet scrubbing of gas streams containing corrosive materials are thermoplastics, primarily heavy-service polypropylene and, in select cases, PVDF.
Large-dimension scrubbers for the powergen sector are manufactured primarily from alloys. Tri-Mer is actively exploring green steel sourcing as well.
Tri-Mer is often requested to provide auxiliary scrubber equipment, including blowers, ducting and ventilation, and tanks. Tri-Mer has extensive tooling for these programs, and production personnel who are highly experienced in fabrication.
