Tri-Mer Corporation designs and manufactures high-efficiency scrubber systems for gaseous contaminants, aerosols and particulate - including PM2.5 - from pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Multiple equipment types comprise the Tri-Mer portfolio; for highest contaminant removal or multi-pollutant gas streams, Tri-Mer systems often incorporate more than one technology. This integrated approach has served pharma well in long-term performance, and adaptability to changing production conditions.
The Tri-NOx Multi-Chem scrubber is a proven solution for the efficient, predictable removal of HAPs. Tri-NOx systems are particularly efficient for removing NOx from gas streams where other contaminants are co-mingled with NOx.
This scenario often disqualifies other types of NOx control, which use catalytic devices to remove the NOx; gas streams containing particulate and other materials can readily poison their catalyst, disabling the system.
“Tri-NOx” is Tri-Mer Corporation’s NOx system tradename. Systems can be engineered to achieve virtually any concentration level at the stack, and accommodate any incoming NO/NO2 ratio.
In contrast to SCR (selective catalytic reduction) devices, Tri-NOx is not vulnerable to catalyst plugging, and is compatible with ambient gas streams.
The standard Tri-NOx NOx Scrubber employs a proprietary oxidizing compound, plus dilute sulfuric acid in the first stage. Applications that involve moderate gas flows can also be engineered to use air oxidation of NO gas in the first stage to achieve a target NO/NO2 ratio for treatment in the second stage.
Pharmaceutical and nutraceutical processors and packers use Tri-Mer Whirl/Wet technology to control flotation dusts from conveying, bagging, capsule filling and dry mixing. Whirl/Wet is well-suited to the collection of dusts from tablet pressing, and process dusts from multiple sources. Soluble and insoluble particulate 2.0 microns and larger are collected at efficiencies of 98% and higher using the Whirl/Wet. It is ideal for heavy or variable particulate loadings, as well as dusts that are sticky or hazardous.
Whirl/Wet operates at low noise levels. Construction is 316 stainless steel to pharmaceutical standards; CIP design, and zero internal moving parts to wear or replace, makes it highly advantageous from a maintenance perspective.
Tri-Mer Corp. has a long and successful relationship with pharma. In addition to gas scrubbers and particulate collection systems for pharmaceutical manufacturing, Tri-Mer’s UltraCat multi-pollutant control system is widely used by manufacturers of pharmaceutical glass. Tri-Mer has 46 UltraCat installations worldwide, and more installations in glass manufacturing than all competitors combined.
