Venturi Scrubber for Fine Particles

Tri-Mer Incenerator Scrubbers

Venturi also Scrubs Gaseous Contaminants

The Tri-Mer high-pressure wet venturi scrubber is a well-established technology. Scrubbers with a quench section accommodate high temperature gas streams, including those from casting, sintering, glass manufacturing, incineration, and pyrolysis - and those with high humidity levels.

Tri-Mer Venturi scrubbers collect a broad range of particulate, from coarse to sub-micron, including particulate that is viscous or hydrophobic, at efficiencies of > 99% if necessary. Systems are custom manufactured in capacities to 300,000 cfm.

How They Work

Tri-Mer’s venturi scrubber uses high pressure drop, uniform distribution of liquid into the gas stream and optimum gas acceleration to achieve very high removal efficiencies.

Gases enter the scrubber at its converging section. As the gas cycles downward, it accelerates, causing liquid from the walls to shear into small droplets, which entrain particles. The entrained droplets are removed from the gas stream.

Downstream, a diverging section handles particle removal as gases decelerate. The resultant, larger “particle” is then removed from the gas stream and impinged on a separator. Scrubbing liquor is recovered and recycled.

How Venturi Scrubbers work
Venturi Applications

Applications

Venturi scrubbers, (including ejector venturis and eductor venturis*), efficiently remove fine particles, including PM10 and PM2.5. They are particularly adept at handling hight dust loads, sticky powders, and gas streams that are volatile or hazardous, or contain solid materials that are difficult to manage with dry filtration units.

Tri-Mer venturi wet scrubbers are well suited to chemical manufacturing, food/beverage processing, fertilizer manufacturing, incineration, kiln and other thermal processes and explosive dusts.

*Eductor venturis, and ejector venturis are subsets of standard venturi scrubbers, incorporating a high-pressure spray and other features that make these designs optimally effective where applications involve corrosives, elevated temperatures and/or high load conditions.
