Industrial Ductwork Fabrication: PP, PVC

Industrial Ductwork Fabrication by Tri-Mer

Polypropylene, PVC, CPVC, PVDF Duct Fabrication

90%+ of the ducting in air pollution control systems manufactured by Tri-Mer Corporation is fabricated from polypropylene. And with good reason: polypropylene is the thermoplastic fluoropolymer that delivers the best combination of strength, durability, wide pH and temperature range, chemical resistance – and cost. Polypropylene is the world’s #2 polymer material, widely used for industrial ductwork as well as thousands of other applications.

For projects involving hot acids, radiation, and a few other extreme conditions, PVDF ducting has been an excellent alternative to polypropylene. PVDF’s days, however, may be numbered: PVDF is a PFAS (“forever chemical”) compound, and its use may shortly be banned in the 27 countries of the EU; there is growing pressure for the US EPA to limit its use as well.

Tools and techniques Tri-Mer uses for industrial ducting fabrication

Tri-Mer Corporation fabricates ductwork according to The Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA) standards.

60+ years of manufacturing with polypropylene material - both copolymer and homopolymer - have given Tri-Mer technicians a powerful knowledge bank regarding this important material, and the most effective ways to fabricate it into industrial ductwork, as well as tanks and other manufacturing equipment.

Skilled Tri-Mer polymer fab technicians use the best-available technology for industrial ductwork fabrication, including:

  • Latest-generation CAD software for most effective design
  • A CNC router with 1,800 IPM cut speed and repeatability of 1/1000th of an inch.
  • A corner butt welder for precise application of pressure at the weld seams for superior structural integrity
  • Programmable thermoforming systems for vacuum and pressure forming
  • Advanced extrusion welders with 2000W drive

Whether your specs call for polypropylene ductwork, or a material such as PVC, CPVC, PE or any of our alloys, Tri-Mer has the resources and know-how to fabricate what you need. We also offer installation services in all 48 contiguous states.
